FTL Discusses Homeland Security Checkpoint Experience

On August 23, 2007, the hosts of Free Talk Live, an online talk radio show in New Hampshire, discussed my experience at a suspicionless Homeland Security checkpoint. The show’s archive is available here.

For those unfamiliar with the encounter, the DHS checkpoint originally took place on April 14, 2005. I posted a web page regarding the incident shortly after being stopped that includes photos, video, and audio of the encounter. I also posted an entry to this blog earlier this year.

The hosts of Free Talk Live did a good job of parsing the audio and I would recommend listening to the show.

Given Homeland Security plans to establish a permanent suspicionless checkpoint facility in Southern Arizona, more individuals are going to be subjected to these intrusive & unconstitutional interactions with agents of the federal government. The more people that become aware of how the federal government is violating our right to travel and our right to be free from unreasonable search and seizure, the better.
