Tohono O'odham Roadblock Incident

This web site provides details regarding an illegal Tohono O'odham / Department of Homeland Security joint task force roadblock that masqueraded as a sobriety checkpoint on a state highway on December 20, 2002.

I was stopped, threatened with lethal force, dragged out of my vehicle, and detained for several hours for no reason - other than requesting to know what law authorized the police to stop me and demand my papers after admitting I wasn't suspected of violating any law and I wasn't being detained. Instead of answering my inquiries, the 'peace officers' chose to initiate force against me.

Initially, I was maliciously prosecuted on trumped up violations of state law but successfully defended against them. The Ajo justice court dismissed charges against me not once - but twice. I'm currently in the midst of a civil rights lawsuit against the responsible parties. I've also documented the involvement of several federal agencies and have made inquiries to various state agencies as well. Finally, I provide links to web sites related to roadblock abuses or general violations of our right to travel. I've also started a blog related to this case and similar issues.

If you're concerned about the growing disregard those in authority have for the individuals they allegedly 'serve' and 'protect', please read this account. I've gone to much trouble to make the legal documentation associated with this incident available online. The majority of these documents can be accessed from the Defense and Lawsuit sections of this website and a comprehensive document timeline is also available. My goal is to provide as much independently verifiable information as possible so you can draw your own conclusions regarding the merits of this case.

Constructive feedback is always welcome. Updates regarding this incident are available directly at the supplied link. They are also available via subscription to the website blog, Roadblock Revelations.
